[FURNITURE]
[DECORATION]
[LIGHTING]

The desire to recover little pieces of our recent history – furniture, decor, lighting – has always been with me: the urge to treasure whatever comes into my hands is part of my nature.

It’s a personal project as eclectic as I am, perhaps because I was fortunate enough to be born at a time of iconoclastic effervescence. The first song I remember is “Yellow Submarine”; the tracks by formed the soundtrack to the car journeys of my childhood, The Police set the pace for the summer holidays of my teenage years, and I danced to 80s pop.

Its name is inspired by the feature film released in 1968, *The Party*, which was translated in Spain as *El Guateque*

Blake Edwards’ screenplay and direction, along with the unique design of the house-set, fascinated me because they were ahead of their time in every respect – both in terms of a groundbreaking approach to interior design, which combined comfort with a sense of transgression, and the wild comedy of the late
1960s.

It pays tribute to a captivating era marked by major social, political and cultural changes.

Rock “n” roll, the space age, the hippie movement, the women's liberation movement, colour television, the first computers, British pop, urban subcultures, the early days of electronic music driven by technology...

The aim of El Guateque is to recapture those experiences in order to create spaces that are as multifaceted as they are unique. That is why it seeks out rare and distinctive pieces, restoring their beauty and distinctive character to make them shine once more, whilst preserving the charm of their long and fascinating history.

In these fast-paced times, El Guateque celebrates the skill of master craftsmen and the meticulous work of trades that know no haste.

During the restoration process, as many original components and materials as possible are preserved so as not to detract from their essence: every piece in the El Guateque catalogue has a soul and radiates a sense of well-being and serenity; I encourage you to see for yourself.
