Cubist ceramic vase AW Pottery

History of AW Pottery Studio The Aw Ceramic Studio was founded by Aw Eng-Kwang in the mid-1940s. The studio had a humble beginning making latex cups for the rubber industry and later became a renowned artistic center. Eng-Kwang's talent was never recognized until he participated in the First Sculpture Exhibition of Singapore in 1967 and in a solo sculpture exhibition in Kuala Lumpur in 1968. Eng-Kwang's natural creativity and his magical craftsmanship drove the success of Aw Pottery. The Aw ceramic chandeliers, lampshades, and sculptures were widely used in major international hotels in Singapore and Malaysia, such as the Hilton. In 1980, Eng-Kwang decided to retire in California until his death in 1996. Without Eng-Kwang, the splendor of Aw Pottery slowly faded over several years. Until in 2013, Aw Lee Lang, the youngest of the family, decided to return to Malaysia and renovate the studio to revitalize Aw Pottery.
